Wow! I never thought I'd be this excited about a vacuum in my life! This thing is fantastic! We had brand new carpet installed less than a year ago. I had called the carpet company wondering what about our warranty just 2 weeks ago, because I was so unimpressed by how our new carpet was holding up. We just got this vacuum 2 days ago, and after the very first time I vacuumed I was blown away! My carpet looks BRAND NEW again! And every piece of dog hair is gone. We've had our dog for 4 years I can't tell you how many vacuums we've gone through trying to find one that would pick up all the dog hair. Especially with our new khaki colored carpet and our furry friends' black hair all over. Our search has ended! This vacuum is fantastic!
I just recently purchased this vacuum after reading the reviews on Amazon as well as Consumer Reports website. & so far, it seems to live up to what I have read. It was rated a Best Buy from Consumer Reports because of its price & that it can compete with the much more expensive vacuums (Dyson, Oreck, etc).
I have owned a lot of vacuums over the years & this machine seems to out do them all. The suction is great on the carpet as well as the tools. I really like the fact I can vacuum my wood floors without the brushes on & then switch them back on for my carpet. I also like that the brushes turn off while you use the tools (I sucked a cord up with my old machine while blissfully cleaning the couch)
If I had to have a complaint about it is that the tools don't store very easily & the push pedal is a bit tough to disingage the handle, but these are very minor. This machine appears to be sturdy & powerful & the price is incredible for such a fine vacuum! Some people have complained that it is hard to pull back but I have found that if I have the brush level adjusted correctly that it works great.
I would definately recommend this vacuum! Good job Eureka!
After reading the reviews here I decided to replace my old Dirt Devil vacuum with this one. I couldn't believe the difference, wow, it felt like it was picking up the carpet off my floor. I don't think my carpet ever looked so clean. It is so much quieter also, than any other vacuum I have owned. I put it together with the three screws while watching tv and had it running in minutes. It came with so many extra bags, I won't have to buy one for some time. I will buy the filter that is cleanable and replacable, I think it will be worth the extra money in the end.
The only one thing that I find a drawback is how hard it is to push down on the release lever with your foot, it really takes a lot of pressure on it. Other than that I really think this vacuum is worth every penny.
I have two cats and three birds, so there's lots of dust and dander in the house. It's amazing how you can HEAR the dirt being sucked into it. Everything about this thing is quality. I don't mind the heaviness of the sweeper because it reminds me how powerful it is. I LOVE using this thing! It is worth every penny and has made our carpets look like they are brand new! I was not sure about having a bagged vacuum again, but the bagless threw dust everywhere when you emptied the container. I can't say enough about this sweeper. You will love it! Consumer Reports is usually very trustworthy, and they got it right on this one.
I purchased this vacuum as a replacement for a Dirt Devil upright, and I can't get over how much better it is. The suction is amazing, the bags are easy to change, and the tools work great. It is on the heavy side, but the results the vacuum provide are worth it. I have two cats and a husband who has allergies, so I need a vacuum that works. I have no doubt that I made the right choice. I was showing it off to my sister, and she couldn't get over how quiet it is (compared to other vacuums). Overall, this is a great vacuum at a great price.
I'm not sure how many vacuums you will buy in your lifetime, but it's clearly one of those items you never think about until it's actually time to get a new one. Often you just end up going out and getting one without much research, afterall it's just a vacuum. We've been really pleased with this one. It's moderately priced maybe a tad towards the high end although there are many more expensive models to pick from. Eureka is obviously one of the top names.
This one comes with a powerful engine and 12 amp operating system. The vacuum comes with a filtration system made by HEPA. These air filters are made to capture over 99% of the dust and allergans in your home. You can switch off the brush roller when moving from carpets to doing floors which is a very nice feature. The air hose extends to five times it's orginal size making it very useful for getting corner cobwebs in ceilings as well as in small, tight corners. It also has a very bright headlight for when your working down darker hallways or closets.
It comes with accessory tools for dusting, upholstery and crevices as well as extension wands to get to those hard to reach places, all the while still maintaing great power. How many times do you lose power when using the suction hose with extensions that renders them all but useless?
Changing the bags and filters are very easy. Haven't had to change a belt yet, however. The manual is well-written and has numerous illustrations identifying the parts and showing how to change out the bad, filter, and belts; Identifies the parts, and shows how all the attachments work and how they are assembled on the vacuum.
We could not have been more happy with our vacuum choice.
We were using a less expensive vacuum for the past couple years not knowing the difference in spending a couple extra dollars on a better vacuum would make. The suction is great. Hepa filtration keeps the air clean. The tools and hose are great for all your cleaning needs. We have a Golden Retriever and it picks up all the hair that my less expensive vacuum would have left behind. I would recommend this vacuum to any pet owner.
I purchased this vacuum because Consumer Reports rated it "very good" and ranked it #2 in their January 2005 issue. I was looking for a new upright cleaner (that uses bags) to replace the Hoover bagless I had been using for the past four years.
All of the hype surrounding the bagless technology is way overblown...in my opinion. Although it's just me and my Black Lab in the house, I found that cleaning the canister and banging dust from the filter was required after each vacuuming session. What a mess! Also, I found myself buying a new canister filter about every three months...at $35 a pop! Let's just say that I'm glad that's over with.
PROS: This upright vacuum has the power, it's very quiet, it's almost dust free, it's easy to clean (just replace the bag), and it has a long power cord (30 feet). The included cleaning attachments firmly snap in to place and don't pop off while you're vacuuming. It has a wide track (15 inches) and works very well on carpet and tile flooring. Also, this vacuum has no problem sucking up all of the hair my Lab sheds!
CONS: It may be a little heavy for some users and the tilt lever (yellow foot button) is pretty tight.
Needless to say, I am very satisfied with my purchase!
I have bought two of these for myself and my folks and have recommended it to my Bro. CR Best Buy two years running. Only complaints are that it is pretty heavy to carry upstairs and the bags can get expensive if you buy Eureka brand (hard to find generics in the stores).
I bought this vacuum cleaner on the recommendation of my brother and have not been disappointed in the least. It's by far the quietest vacuum I've ever used and has amazing cleaning capability on shag carpets, rugs, mats, whatever. All the extensions it comes with are quite handy as well. The built-in HEPA filter works really well and you don't get any dusty smell in the air when you vacuum like you do with most other cleaners. On a sidenote, I have a friend that owns a Dyson (which he bought for almost 4 times the price of this cleaner) and he's used this vacuum and was more impressed with it than his own cleaner. That says a lot.
There is only one issue with this cleaner that I would bring up -- the weight. I would not recommend this vacuum to women as some may actually have a problem lifting it to take up and down the stairs of a house.
