Best Steam Iron Ever; but it will scare the cats!

Every 15 years, I go in search of the ultimate steam iron for less than $100. This time, I've found it! This iron doesn't leak a drop, puts out more steam than I want (I've only tried up to 1/3 of it's steam dial, and will totally freak out the cats. (It sounds like a dragon is sitting in the next room.)
I sew customing so I need to get through tons of fabric and this does it. It also "glides" on it's steam pillow, so has a certain weightless fell to it. Very smooth.
It is also great at Japanese Karate Gi Cotton! That's amazingly tough stuff to get the wrinkles out of and this does it!
Very easy to use, just don't crank it all the way up untill you get used to it.

As far as we're concerned Rowenta deserves raves! This nifty four pound iron makes short work of wrinkles with a great consistent spray of steam. The first steam iron we ever had spit, popped and bubbled. No more. Rowenta delivers a steady spray.

We like the easy fill cap, and a sole plate that just never gets stuck. Further, the temperature controls are accurate - silk is silk, cotton is cotton.

Granted, there are less expensive irons but we don't think we're getting our money's worth unless the iron really performs -and Rowenta does.

I'm a new man

Would you believe an Iron can change your life? This beauty have psychologically affected me tremendously, from someone who HATES ironing into a man who creates an occasion for ironing. One thing I would say is the cord is too short I had to buy an extension cord to use it comfortably.

Owned a Rowenta before, this one is OUTSTANDING!!!

I just broke my beloved 2 year old Rowenta, and went on a search to find a suitable replacement. I was incredibly leery of spending $100 + for a new iron when I had just bought one within two years.

Let me tell you, it's worth every penny! The redesign of the handle and temperature dial makes for a much more comfortable grip. This soleplate glides as effortlessly as the older design, which is a relief. The spray function is wider and mists better, and the steam function is much more responsive and forceful. Also, the vertical steam actually works quite well on this incarnation.

The biggest improvement on this version is the amount of steam, the temperature, and the iron's over-all effective use of both. I was able to iron three very difficult cotton shirts (which had sat in the laundry basket for over a week) in about an hour. They had perfect creases, were completely wrinkle-free and totally dry when I was done.

As far as the light display for the temperature, I had thought that was a bit of a silly feature at first. After using it, however, I've found that it's a rather useful tool in maintaining the leak-proof operation of my iron. This is evident right after refilling, when the light warns you that the iron isn't hot enough to begin again.

Now, all I need to do is be more careful so that I can get many more years out of this one!

Great iron - deceptive "price" Caveat Emptor!

I've seen this iron at numerous stores, catalogues, web sites (even Rowenta's own site), but NEVER at $175.00. It's consistently listed at $139.00

J&R Music and Computer World ought to be ashamed for this deceptive price inflation in order for their "discount" to appear sizeable.

This is a fantastic iron!

I iron 365 shirts a year. I don't mind ironing but this iron made it a joy to do! This is by far the best iron I have every used. It does a much better job than any iron I have tried. My shirts look better than they ever have. The heat of the soleplate is constant, it glides effortlessly and the amount of steam is great. I wondered if I should be spending this amount of money on an iron. After using the Rowenta DX-9800 for over a month, I am so happy that I did! It is a great value for the quality of the product. I like the weight of the iron and everything about it. I got used to it right away and enjoy ironing with it. If do a lot ironing or even a little bit, you will be very happy that you bought this iron. It is a very superior product. Rowenta should get an award for the excellence of the design of this iron.

The Cadillac of Irons makes ironing fun!

I'm a guy, and I have to admit, when my girlfriend convinced me to purchase a new iron to upgrade my small travel iron for my shirts, I was skeptical and felt that spending more money was just wasteful. But I had a coupon, someone I knew recommended the Rowenta brand, and so I purchased this thing.

wow! It does a great job! Ironing is much easier and actually a little fun, as crazy as that sounds. This generates a ton of steam, it heats up very quickly and has a light to tell you when the it's ready for use. It is virtually spillproof as the there is a spring loaded top on the hole where you pour the water into the iron. It's heavy enough to provide some solid weight for the clothes, but not too heavy to make it difficult to move.

If you're in the market for an iron, try this one out and you won't be sorry!

Best iron out there!

I have tried many irons, most of which I passed on to my kids because they just didn't do the trick, spit water or soleplate got gunky. The Rowenta Perfect DX9800 is fantastic! I like the weight of it, and the steam penetration is the best out there...makes short work of wrinkles. I love it, wouldn't own any thing else! It's worth the extra money to have a quality iron.

The Best Iron Ever

This is truly a revolution in irons. I am a guy and hated ironing until I bought this!!! The Intra-Steam System-Interval pulses creates the perfect burst of steam that adjusts for the type of fabric you are ironing. The anti-drip system is a great feature that prevents leaking. The platnium soleplate effortlessly glides across everything that I want to iron. I love it!!!

The PERFECT IRON? Oh Yeah!!!!

My children bought this iron for me as a Christmas gift, and gave it to me a little early, since my other iron was on its last leg. When I first pulled this iron out of the box, I loved the sleek and modern design, but was a bit concerned with the weight. It is certainly a hefty unit. I also noticed that the power cord was rather short. Since this model is rated at 1600 watts, my husband didn't trust a standard, cheap extension cord, so he purchased a heavy duty 9 foot appliance extension cord. Filling the iron with water was easy, and I was completely amazed at how fast this iron heated up. At the cotton fabric setting, it was ready to go to work in a flash. But folks, enough of these trivial details. The star of the show with this iron is the steam. I couldn't believe my eyes! I have never seen so much steam come from a household iron!! I have never had to turn the steam setting way down on an iron before. Until now that is! And the steam surge button caused a burst of steam to shoot from this iron at least 2 to 3 feet. Seeing that blast of steam, and hearing the noise it made...well let's just say, it made me jump! The extra weight of this iron really helps to press out the most stubborn wrinkles, and the iron glides extremely smooth on the fabric. When I did some checking and found out how much this iron actually costs, I have to admit that I was a bit overwhelmed. But now that I have used it a few times, I am totally convinced that this iron is worth every penny! You WILL NOT find an iron that produces as much steam, heats up as quickly, glides as smoothly, and presses out wrinkles as effortlessly as the Rowenta DX-9800. I never thought I would ever find an iron that was worthy of a perfect 5 star rating. I THOUGHT WRONG! I give this Rowenta Perfect Iron 6 stars!!! This site only allows up to 5 stars, but I'm making up my own rules here. The short cord is a little discouraging, and I must warn you that even though this iron holds a generous amount of water, it guzzles through it pretty quickly. But you wont mind filling it a little more often once you experience the awe inspiring steam production of this beauty. Good looking, hard working, and a great performer. What more could you want from an iron? If only my husband were more like this iron! =O)
